Amateur Athletics

I’ll be the first to say that calling NCAA athletics (at least men’s football and basketball) amateur is naïve. But they do try to propagate the illusion.

CBSSports.com, the NCAA partner, on their NCAA tournament scoreboard, for upcoming games shows the over/under and point spread. Even NFL.com doesn’t show gambling information, but “amateur” athletics does?

I understand that CBSSports.com is not the NCAA, but they might as well be.

Honestly, just pay the players…

I am officially old. My 12 year old went to see a big You Tuber, Meg DeAngelis. I, of course, have never heard of her. But she has 2 million followers and was doing a meet and greet in Manhattan:

My wife got the honor of standing in line with my daughter and four of her friends to meet her. Apparently they did a very nice job and the girls came back crazy excited.

I can’t even think of something analogous that I did at 12…
